This is the special de-husked version of Carafa Type 1.

Weyermann® Carafa® Special Type 1 is a dark-roasted specialty malt made from high-quality spring barley. Where malt-based bitterness is not desired, Weyermann® Carafa® Special Type 2 is a  perfect fit. Weyermann® use a unique process where the husks are removed from carefully selected grains before malting and roasting them.

As the de-husked version of Carafa®, it produces rich colour, body, flavour and aroma without the harsh flavours and astringency typical of dark-coloured grains. Adds coffee-brown color, a coffee-like bouquet, dark beer aroma, as well as body and mouthfeel to finished beer but without introducing harsh flavors.

Carafa Special Type I - Weyermann (GER) - 25kg

Light-roasted specialty malt made from high-quality spring barley. This is the de-husked version of Carafa. It's carefully roasted to add an espresso-like bouquet, coffee and chocolate flavors, but without introducing any of the harsh flavours or astringency typical of dark roasted grains. Used to intensify aroma and color in dark, Munich beers and stouts.
